Sproat to Granville
Farncombe Villa, Godalming
26 June 1869 To The Right Honourable The Secretary of State for the Colonies

My Lord,
Having been informed that Mr Musgrave, Governor of Newfoundland, is a candidate for the Governorship of British Columbia, I respectfully beg leave to withdraw the application which I made for that office.
Mr Musgrave's appointment, if I may be permitted to say so, will give much satisfaction both in Canada and in British Columbia.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord
Your very obedient Servant
Gilbert Malcolm Sproat
