I think the Governor might now be informed that on the
19th
March Lord Granville recd a letter from
Mr Watson dated
14
Jany last, with its enclosures, from which it appeared that he
                     had forwarded copies to the
Govr for transmission to the
                     Secretary

 of State. That the
Secy of State had deferred disposing
                     of
Mr Watson's letter until the Gov
rs reports should reach him
as it ought to have done some time before this. That this delay
                     on the part of the
Govr is fortunately of less consequence than
it might have been, as the records of this Office have enabled

Lord Granville to come to the conclusion that
Mr Watson has no
                     claim on the Home
Govt, a decision he will make known
                     to
Mr Watson explaining to him the cause of delay.
