I transmit to you a copy of an Extract from a letter addressed by the Consul General at New York to the Governor General of Canada which has been received in a Despatch from Sir John Young.
Though I cannot regard it as very probable that a Fenian raid will be made on Vancouver Island, I have thought it right to place you in possession of this statement of Mr. Archibald's opinion inorderManuscript image order that you may exercise all necessary vigilance in the matter.
