I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Hankin's Despatch, Confidential of the 19th of July, furnishing information in reply to my Despatch Confidential, of the 2nd of June enquiring to what extent the majority of the Legislative Council of British Columbia which in its last session passed the Resolution against Confederation with Canada was composedofManuscript image of Public Officers.
My Despatch No. 84 of the 14th of August will already have made you aware of the views of Her Majesty's Government on the very important subject of Confederation.
