I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Hankin's Despatch No. 36 of the 3rd August, requesting to be informed whether I will cause the Colony of British Columbia to be reimbursed from Imperial funds the expenses of Mr. Seymour's funeral. In reply I have to inform you that I am unable to propose that theexpenseManuscript image expense should be borne by the British Treasury, but I shall not object to recommend the Lords Commissioners to sanction the expenditure out of Colonial funds, if your Council will pass a covering Vote for the amount which has been disbursed.
