No. 140
19th October 1870
My Lord,
I have the honor to report that I intend to leave Victoria tomorrow in Her Majesty's Ship "Sparrowhawk" for the purpose of visiting Cowichan, Nanaimo, & Comox on the East Coast of Vancouver Island, and Knight's Inlet and some other places on the Coast of the Mainland. AtKnightsManuscript image Knights Inlet there have been some disputes between the Indian Tribe in that neighbourhood, and a party engaged in endeavouring to open what is represented as likely to be a very valuable mine of Copper Ore. And I hope that my visit may terminate the misunderstanding. I shall probably be absent from the Seat of Government about a fortnight, but scarcely in any case more than three Weeks.
