With reference to your letter of December last, in which my application for an extension of leave was refused,Manuscript image I have the honor to inform you that as I found it impossible to return from Canada in time to report myself before the expiration of my leave, IManuscript image have no option but to tender my resignation of my post as Clerk to the Gold Commissioner of the Columbia District, in the Colony of British Columbia.
