Sir,
I am directed by the Secretary of State to inform you that the Queen's Exequatur empowering Mr. David Eckstein to act as Consul for the United States at Victoria, Vancouvers Island received Her Majesty's signature on the 21st Instant, and that the notification of Her Majesty's approval of the appointment of Mr. Eckstein will appear in the Gazette of the 24th instant. Mr. Eckstein is stated to have never resided in Great Britain or any of its dependencies.
