I have had the honor to receive Your Lordship's Despatch No. 16, of the 23rd Febr. last acquainting me that the Queen had been pleased upon recommendation to give directions for my appointment as a member of the third class, or Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George.
2. I beg that Your Lordship will lay before Her Majesty my grateful thanks for this precious mark of Her Favor which I regard with pride and gratification as a token of approbation for what I have desired should be faithful discharge of my duties in Her Majesty's service.
