I have received your Despatch No. 2 of the 18th January transmitting returns relative to the hospital[s] of B.C.
I observe with satisfaction the creditable state of those two Hospitals which are under Government control.

The state of the Lunatics in the Gaols of Victoria and New Westminster is far from satisfactory. I hope when Confederation takes place means will be found to provide a provide a proper lunatic asylum.
