Correspondence (private letter).
Minutes (7), Enclosures (untranscribed) (1), Other documents (2).
In the minutes,
Blackwood presumes that the gentlemen proposed to join
Easterby’s “mining Schemes” are of a respectable sort, and
Newcastle asks to direct the land board to prepare a draft lease.
Three documents are enclosed with this correspondence. The first is a letter, from
Easterby to
Taylor, that forwards the names of three gentlemen to become joint lessees; the second is
a draft letter, from the Colonial Office to the Emigration Commissioners, that forwards
copies of correspondence on and related to
Easterby’s scheme, and asks that a draft lease be prepared; and the third is a draft letter,
from the Colonial Office to
Taylor, that advises that a grant will not be granted.
