No. 31
13th December 1855
Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge your Despatch No 4, of the 6th of September 1855, in reply to my letter of the 15th of June last reporting the measures taken to meet the requisition of the Commander in Chief of the Naval forces in the Pacific; for providing the Fleet with supplies, and Hospital accommodation at this settlement, and communicating the satisfactory intelligence that the Hudson'sBayManuscript image Bay Company had been apprized that on receiving proper vouchers, the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty will be ready to defray all the claims which can justly be made on this account, on the Naval Department.
I beg to inform you that the proper accounts with Vouchers, of the expenses incurred in providing hospital accommodations for the Fleet, amounting to £932.5.0, were forwarded in Duplicate on the 10th day of October last, to the Hudson's Bay Company, who advanced the capital required for erecting the hospital and will be presented by them to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty for payment.
I have the honor to be Sir
Your most obedient humble Servant
James Douglas
