I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch[es] No. 24 of the 8th of November and No. 32 of the 13 December last reporting the measures which you had taken for aiding the Authorites of the United states in repelling the hostile attacks of the Indian Tribes on the American Oregon.
Your proceedings on this occasion appear to have been judicious and I amgratifiedManuscript image gratified to learn that they were duly appreciated by the Authorites and the Inhabitants of the American Settlements.
