Referring to a correspondence between this Department, the
               Foreign Office, and the Governor of 
Vancouver's Island, on the
               subject of the cost of the Buildings which have been erected
               under the order of the latter, for the accommodation of the
               North American Boundary Surveying Expedition, I am directed by
               
Major General Peel to request that you will move Secretary 
Sir E. Lytton to instruct 
Governor Douglas to take steps, so soon as
               the Services in which 
Lieutenant Colonel Hawkins is employed
               shall have been completed,

 
               for disposing of the Buildings in
               question to the best advantage, and remitting the proceeds to
               this Country to be carried to the credit of the Foreign Office.
