Abstract
Despatch from London.
Stanley transmits to Douglas a copy of the letter he received from the Admiralty regarding the sale of Thetis Island in Esquimalt Harbour. He notes that Douglas has attempted to “further the views” of the Royal Navy and hopes that if successful
the purchaser of the island will be duly compensated.

I transmit to you a copy of a letter which I have received from the
Secretary to
the Admiralty touching the sale of Thetis Island in
Esquimault Harbour, and of the answer which I have caused to be returned
to it. It appears from the correspondence that you have been anxious to
further the views of the Naval Authorities as far as lay in your power;
and I hope that this can be effected, consistently with what is due to
the purchaser of the Island.
