I have the honour of transmitting herewith a copy of a correspondence
which has taken place between
Governor Douglas and
A.G. Dallas
Esq
re, the representative of the Hudson's Bay Company in
Vancouver's Island, on the subject of advances demanded by
Governor Douglas from the Company in liquidation of the Civil expenses of the
Colony.
Your Grace will be pleased to observe that although
Mr Dallas had
not received the copy of your Grace's letter to me of the
12th of
July which I sent to him by the first
opportunityopportunity he steadily
resisted the importunities of
Mr Douglas for further advances out of
the funds of the Hudson's Bay Company on Colonial Account.
