I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Fortescue's letter of the 21st on the subject of the questions pending between Her Majestys Government and the Hudsons Bay Company respecting the amount to be repaid to the Company on the resumption of Vancouver's Island by the Crown—and in reply I venture to request that your Grace will favor me with an interview at an early date when I hope we shall be able to arrive at a final settlement of those claims.
