I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Elliot's letter of the 1st instant in which he informs me by the direction of your Grace that the Paymaster General has received the necessary authority to pay to the Hudsons Bay Company whenever it may be applied for by them the sum of £32,500 in discharge of the claims of the CompanyinManuscript image in respect to the resumption of Vancouvers Island by the Crown.
In conveying to your Grace my thanks and those of my Colleagues for this communication I beg to state that Mr Thomas Fraser, the Secretary of the Company has been authorised to receive payment and that on the assumption that Monday next will be convenient for the purpose he will attend on that day at the Paymaster Generals Office for the purpose of receiving the money.
