I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 4 of the 6th of February last, and to approve the course you have taken in appropriating a sum of two thousand five hundred pounds [£2500] from the Revenues of British Columbia, in addition to a like amount voted by the Legislature of Vancouver Island, in order to secure a direct and regular communicationwithManuscript image with San Francisco.
