I have had the honor to receive your despatch No. 24 of the 13th of May, containing an answer to my despatch of the 24th of February last, relative to your having appointed the late Mr. D'Ewes to an office at Victoria.
The circumstances which you mention accountforManuscript image for your having conferred the appointment on him, and your explanation is quite satisfactory.
