No. 18
13 May 1863
Sir,
With reference to my despatch No. 17 of the 9th Instant, I have the honor to acquaint you that I have authorized the Agents General to accept and pay three more Bills Nos 7, 8 and 9 drawn on them by the Treasurer of Vancouver Island to the amount of £6,000.
On two successiveoccasionsManuscript image occasions the bills have been presented to the Agents for payment before any advice of their draft had been received. As this is inconvenient and even tends to raise doubts at times whether bills ought to be paid under such circumstances, I have to request that you will take particular carethatManuscript image that the advice of any future Bills may be sent by equally early opportunities as the Bills themselves.
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your Obedient Servant
