In reply to the Secretary of State's Despatch No 6 dated 28th March 1864, I have the honor to inform you that Richard Hatcher is acting as cook at the Steamboat Hotel in Esquimalt in this Colony. This man is said to have arrived in the Colony in November 1862 by the "Silistria"—to be a native of Hampshire, and to have left a wife keeping the Station Hotel, Wellingborough,NorthamptonshireManuscript image Northamptonshire. He has lately bought 150 acres of land in the Colony.
