Sir,
We are honoured with your commands signified in Sir Frederic Rogers' letter of the 5th Instant, stating, that he was directed by you to transmit to us the copy enclosed of a Despatch from the Governor of Vancouver Island, accompanied by an Act passed by the Legislature of Vancouver Island, (to which the Governor has reserved his Assent) entitled "An Act respecting Barristers and Attorneys at Law."
Sir Frederic Rogers wasalsoManuscript image also pleased to state that he was directed by you likewise to enclose a copy of the observations of the local Attorney General upon the Act, and to request, that we would take these papers into our consideration, and favour you with our opinion, whether this Act may properly receive Her Majesty's Confirmation.
Sir Frederic Rogers was also pleased to state, that he enclosed copies of part of a correspondence, which, probably, gave occasion to the passing of this Law.
In obedience to your commands, we have taken these papers into our consideration, and have the honour to Report
That we areofManuscript image of opinion, that there is no sufficient objection to this Act, to call for the withholding of Her Majesty's sanction therefrom.
