I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 55 of the 20th of August reporting that you had appointed Major Foster to be Magistrate for the Sooke District at a salary of $1,750, in the room, I presume, of Mr. Hughes, deceased.
Assuming that you havetheManuscript image the means at your disposal for paying this salary, I have to convey to you my sanction for the appointment.
