I have the honor to acknowledge your Despatch No. 84 of the
8th of
October, containing some information with which I requested you to
furnish me on the steps you had taken connected with the unfortunate
massacres of Euopeans
at at
Bute Inlet and the
Bentinck Arm.
The account which you have given of your proceedings is quite
satisfactory, and convinces me that you acted with your usual zeal and
promptitude, and with every desire to lend your cooperation in any
measures that might be necessary for the public good.
