No. 4, Miscellaneous
I have the honor to request you will cause the necessary steps to be
taken for procuring a supply of postage labels for the use of this
Colony.
It is proposed that two denominations of stamps only should be
prepared at present and which in addition to a profile portrait of
Her Majesty surmounted by the words
Vancouver,
Vancouver Island, should bear at
the foot the words, Five Cents, and, Ten Cents, respectively.
These stamps might be respectively of a red and blue colour.
The number required of each description is fifty thousand, and I
should feel obliged if a portion of each kind could be sent by post
as soon after completion as possible and the remainder in instalments
by subsequent Mails.
These Stamps are urgently required there being none in use in the
Colony.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient Servant
A.E. Kennedy
