I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st Inst and of the Copy of a Despatch from the Governor of Vancouver Island.
I enclose Copies of the Regulations for the guidance of the Metropolitan Police, and Extract from the numerous Acts of Parliament on matters of Police, also Forms used in the administration of Police, some of which may be found useful.
The only mode I believe for obtaining a knowledge of the Police system and operationsisManuscript image is personal observation and communication with the Officers of Police.
