Sir,
I have the honor to inform you that the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty have claimed the sum of £22..1.0 as due to Commander Joliffe of Her Majesty's Ship "Devastation" on account of the expense incurred for your entertainment from the 27th September to the 4th October on board that ship during your tour of inspection.

I have instructed the Crown Agents to pay this sum to the credit of Naval funds in the hands of the Paymaster General, and I have to request you to repay to them this amount.
