Referring to my Despatch No 41 of 4th June 1866 I have the honor to enclose copies of a Resolution of the Legislative Assembly "respecting the defences of the Colony in view of the possibility of a Fenian raid," and of my reply thereto.

Resolution passed by Legislative Assembly, 11 June 1866, asking the governor to "communicate to this House his views respecting the defences of the Colony in view of the possibility of a Fenian Raid," signed by R.W. Torrens, Clerk of the House.

Kennedy to Legislative Assembly, 12 June 1866, advising that all available precautions had been made, but referring to recent actions of the assembly to restrict the police force and hinder the development of a volunteer force which must "invite and encourage any aggression which might be contemplated by Fenians or others."
