I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 3, 13th August 1866 transmitting a copy of the Act passed by the Imperial Parliament for the union of the colony of Vancouver Island with the Colony of British Columbia.

Your Lordship may feel assured that I will afford Governor Seymourmy cordial co-operation in supporting the policy of Her Majesty's Government in the consolidation of these Colonies which it has been my earnest desire to see effected.
I beg to offer my very grateful thanks for the favourable view you have been pleased to take of my administration of theGovernmentManuscript image Government of this Colony.
I will place myself at Governor Seymour's disposal as to the time of my departure for England.
