Mr Alston asked for these Works for the Mechanics' Institute. The
Com
rs of Patents have given them for the Colonial
Govt.
Therefore send them to the Colonial
Govt, but transmit
Mr
Alston's letter in order that the local
Govt may determine whether
or not to deposit the Works in the Mechanics' Institute.
Mr
Alston affirms that it is the only place in either Colony in which
they could be conveniently deposited; and if this be the fact his
wish will doubtless be attended to.
We must tell
Mr Alston that the works have been given and are sent
out to the Colonial
Govt with whom it will rest to determine
whether or not they should be deposited in the Mechanics' Institute.
