Sir,
In reply to Mr Elliot's letter of the 18th Instant, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you that the Paymaster General has been authorized to pay to Capt. Kennedy, C.B. the sum of £800, as the Passage Allowance to which he is entitled on his return home from administering the Government of Vancouver Island, upon its union with the Colony of British Columbia.
