Nesbitt to Buckingham
Arragon House,
Parson's Green,
Nr Fulham
April 29th 1867
My Lord Duke,
I doing so I take the opportunity of adding that I held in that
Colony the situations of Chief Clerk in
the the Colonial Secretary's
Office and Clerk of the Legislative Council for the space of four
years, and that I cease to hold office in consequence of the
amalgamation that has recently taken place between
Vancouver Island
and
British Columbia.
I am thus thrown on the world and my own resources not from any
fault of my own but in consequence of the imperial measures that
have
united united the two Colonies.
Under these circumstances I submit my case to Your Grace's
consideration in the hope that my claims to the patronage of the
Crown will be favourably entertained.
I have the honor to be,
My Lord Duke,
Your Grace's
Most obedient,
and humble servant
Edwin James Nesbitt
