Bridge River flows southeast into the
Fraser River, just north of
Lillooet. Local First Nations, likely St'át'imc, built a toll bridge across the river's mouth
during the height of the
Fraser River gold rush; mining continued there well after the rush, in various locations along
the river, until the final mine closure in 1971.
