Douglas Channel was named for
Sir James Douglas.
1 It is a narrow passage on
British Columbia's north coast that stretches from
Kitimat to the Tsimshian community Hartley Bay.
2 The channel allows deep-water vessels to access the aluminum smelter and other industrial
sites in
Kitimat.
3 The Haisla First Nation community resided in the interior areas of the channel before
moving to the Kitamaat Village.
