Engleheart published a journal he kept when he accompanied
Newcastle and
The Prince of Wales on a North American visit, in
1860, reaching as far west as
Lake Superior.
2 Prior to this role, Engleheart was a barrister at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s
Inn beginning in
1849.
3 Following his work for
Newcastle, Engleheart served as the comptroller for Prince Christian of Denmark and Princess
Helena from
1866-69 and then served as a Clerk of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster. While in this
role, he was knighted (K.C.B.) in
1897, before entering the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster in
1901.
4 Having made his various careers his life, Engleheart continued his last vocation
until he was 89.
