Halifax is located on the eastern shores of
Nova Scotia, and is the same province’s capital city.
1 This seaport was established in 1749 as a British settlement and military centre,
and by the time it was incorporated as a town in 1841, its population had boomed,
largely as a result of Loyalist migration following the American Revolution.
