Englefield Bay, bears the name “Nutts Island”. However, the name may be an earlier moniker of one
of the island outlined in the map above. It could also refer to nearby Hibben Island,
the large triangle-shaped island in the middle of
Englefield Bay, as it's unclear when the name “Hibben” comes into use, and “Nutts Island” hosted
fifteen men, a
block house,
and
two small pieces of ordnance.
