Henry Revell Reynolds was born in Bedford-Row,
London, in 1800. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and received a BA in 1822
and a MA in 1825. He was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1826. He was an
assistant solicitor in the Treasury from 22 November 1842 to 30 December 1851, when
he was promoted solicitor to replace G. Mauley. He remained in that position until
1 June 1866, when he resigned. He died three weeks later, at the age of 65. Six daughters
and three sons by two successive wives, Marry-Anne Knotchbull and Charlotte Anne Bullock-Welster,
survived him.
