I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No 25 of the 24th September, enclosing a copy of Her Majesty's Commission to Colonel Moody as LieutenantGovernor Governor of British Columbia, and I feel assured that his great Colonial experience will be of the utmost service to the Colony. to the Colony. Moody's commission as Lt Gov (see Lytton to Douglas, 24 September 1858, No. 25, CO 398/1, p. 105). Moody's commission as lieutenant governor, dated Balmoral, 21 September 1858, can be found in: Great Britain, Colonial Office, Despatches from London, C AB 10.2 1, PABC. Moody was sworn in as lieutenant governor and chief commissioner of lands and works on 4 January 1859. Gazette, 6 January 1859.
