I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Merivale's letter of the 27th Ultimo, Ultimo, = M-HBC, 27 Sep 58, extra pay for ship's crews FIND?? Merivale to Hudson's Bay Company, 27 September 1858. Cf. Douglas to Stanley, 25 July 1858, 9254, CO 305/9, p. 157 and Despatch to London: Douglas to Lytton, 9 December 1858, 1062, CO 60/1, p. 503. transmitting a copy of a correspondence between the Governor of Vancouver's Island and the Captains of Her Majesty's Ships "Satellite" and "Plumper"; and also of a despatch from the former, in which he announces that he has authorized a temporary addition to the pay of the crews of those ships out of the territorial revenue of the Colony.

I beg on the part of theCommittee Committee of the Hudson's Bay Company to express their acknowledgements for that communication.
