<p><persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName> requests the <q>usual advance of Pay</q> for the Royal Engineers posted to <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>.</p>

<p>The minutes debate whether <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName>’s request for <q>Army pay</q> should be charged to Colonial accounts or to the War office. Regardless, the CO contacts <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName> for compliance with no <q>unnecessary delay.</q></p>

<p>Enclosed is a draft from the CO to <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName> recommending that <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName>’s request be complied with to prevent further delay, and that an adjustment be made in the future.</p>

cause to be paid to Mess<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">rs</hi> <orgName ref="org:cox_co">Cox &amp; Co</orgName> Army Agents the usual
advance of Pay to be issued to the Royal Engineers proceeding to
<placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>.

In the present instance it would be for 120 days at the
following rates per an.

I imagine that the discussion on this particular point between <persName ref="prs:lytton_egeb">Sir E. Lytton</persName>, <persName ref="prs:peel_j">General Peel</persName> &amp;c has not yet taken place. In the
meanwhile these Officers must at once receive the customary
advance. Since writing the preceeding I have remembered that the
T-y say that they will communicate hereafter with the <orgName ref="org:war_office">War Office</orgName> as
to the expense properly chargeable on Army funds. Such being the
case we may at once request the T-y to order these payments?
