<p><persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName> informs the CO that the War Department wants him to defray the cost of <q>Forage (Oats &amp; a small quantity of Hay).</q> He requests that <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName> be <q>moved</q> to make the payment.</p>

<p>The minutes resign that there is <q>no help for it.</q> They recommend that <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName> make the payment <q>as usual.</q></p>

<p>Enclosed is <persName ref="prs:elliot_tf">Elliot</persName> to <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName> forwarding a copy of <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName>’s letter and asking that the payment be sanctioned.</p>

I have the honor to state it has been desirable by the
War <choice><abbr>D<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">t</hi></abbr><expan>Department</expan></choice> that the purchase of Forage (Oats &amp; a small
quantity of Hay) obtained for <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">B. Columbia</placeName> by <persName ref="prs:eaton_r">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Eaton</persName> H.M.
Storekeeper Tower should be defrayed by me instead of paying
through their Accounts as the other Stores will be. I did not
contemplate this when I made my last demand.
</p>

I think it would facilitate matters if you would sanction
the above and move H.M. Treasury to place the sums required—viz
