I enclose for your information a Copy of a letter from the Archbishop of Canterbury announcing to me the munificent endowment offered by Miss Burdett Coutts for the foundation of a See in British Columbia, togetherwith with my reply to that communication. communication = Canterbury re Burdett Coutts I.e., Canterbury, Archbishop of, to Lytton, 27 September 1858, 9880, CO 60/2, p. 606.

I have as you will perceive by the correspondence gladly accepted this noble contribution to the cause of Christianity, and I rejoice to think that the service and ministrations of the Church will not be wanting to the early stages of Colonial life.
