received from <persName ref="prs:miles_j">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> John Miles</persName>, residing<!--<pb facs="co_398_01/co_398_01_00069v.jpg"/>--> in Canada, applying for the
grant of a certain Gold Quartz vein in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>, together with
a Copy of the answer<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">which</fw><pb facs="rg7_g8c_06/rg7_g8c_06_00169v.jpg"/> which I have returned to him through the Governor
of the Province.
</p>
<p><persName ref="prs:miles_j">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Miles</persName> appears to found his claim on priority of discovery and
I think that any application which he may address to you for permission
to work the mine to which he alludes should be favorably considered,
subject of course to existing local regulations and conditions.
