I have duly received your Despatch of the 24th February No 24, referring to a Report made direct to the Secretary of State for the Colonies by Mr Begbie the Judge of BritishBritish Columbia upon his arrival at Vancouver's Island.

2. In compliance with your instructions I have informed Mr Begbie of the irregularity of this proceeding and have communicated to him the other matters touched upon in your Despatch.
