<p><persName ref="prs:corry_htl">Corry</persName> confirms the H.M.S. <name ref="vsl:tribune" type="vessel">Tribune</name> is bound for <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName> containing <q>7 Officers &amp; 160 Non Commissioned Officers &amp; Privates of Royal Marines.</q></p>

<p>The minutes enclose the letter to the Governor of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> to show that reinforcements are enroute. And they propose to print this document for parliament so that the <q>public at large may know of the steps taken by the Government for affording protection to <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">B. Columbia</placeName>.</q></p>

<p>Enclosed is a draft from <persName ref="prs:lytton_egeb">Lytton</persName> to <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Douglas</persName> informing him of the impending arrival of reinforcements; and an extract from <persName ref="prs:seymour_m">Seymour</persName> to the Secretary of the <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName> reporting on the despatch of the <name ref="vsl:tribune" type="vessel">Tribune</name> to <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>.</p>

Lytton</persName> an Extract from a letter dated the <date when="1858-11-27">27<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> November</date>
