With reference to my despatch of the 11th of May on the subject of the erection of Light Houses in Fucas Straits and the approaches to Esquimalt Harbour I transmit to you herewith for your information and guidancethe the Copy of a letter from the Board of Trade on the subject.

I have the honor to be, Sir, Your most obedient humble Servant Herman Merivale in the absence of Sir E.B. Lytton
James Booth, to Elliot, 11 June 1859, advising that "the Lords of the Committee of Privy Council for Trade" will "give instructions for the construction of the Lanterns and Lighting apparatus" for "these two Lighthouses," and forwarding Sullivan's memorandum on "the dimensions that will be required at the top of the Towers."
