I regret much the inconvenience to which your Department has
been exposed through my Despatches not being written upon regular
sized Foolscap paper, as pointed out in your Despatch

<p>
2. I assure Your Grace that this circumstance would not
have occurred had it been practicable to procure proper sized
paper, but we are here, at present, mainly dependent upon the
American Market for certain descriptions of goods, paper among
the number, and we are compelled to use such as can be procured
at the time.
</p>
<p>
3. To obviate this annoyance and inconvenience more than
<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">eighteen</fw>
<pb facs="co_60_08/co_60_08_00196r.jpg"/>
eighteen months ago an order was sent to England for a supply of
Stationery of the customary official description. The articles
were shipped but the Vessel bringing them was unfortunately
wrecked at the <placeName ref="plc:falkland">Falkland Islands</placeName>. A duplicate of the order has,
however, been executed, but the articles have not yet arrived.
</p>
<p>
4. I feel much indebted to your Grace for your kindness
and consideration in directing a moderate supply of Stationery
to be forwarded to me from Her Majesty's
<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">Stationary</fw>

Stationery Office, and
I will not fail in future, when need may be, to forward timely
requisitions for any further Supplies that may be required.
