Draft reply, Newcastle to Douglas, No. 96, 18 July 1862, forwarding the Estimate submitted to Parliament this year for British Columbia, and requesting that Douglas report at [his] earliest convenience of the particulars and amount of the smallest grant which in your judgment will suffice for the same purpose in the next financial year.
The accompanying despatches are Submitted in consequence of a Letter from the Treasury last October stating that henceforward all Parliamentary Estimates ought to be sent in to them not later than the 1st of December. TFE 8 July 61 CF N
